McConnell Takes Another Shot At Trump With Ukraine Comment

Kentucky Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell criticized President Donald Trump, stating that Trump’s refusal to solely blame Russia for the war in Ukraine shows a “gross misunderstanding” of negotiations and leverage.

McConnell emphasized that Vladimir Putin is entirely responsible for the conflict, warning that even if Ukraine surrendered, Putin’s ambitions would not stop.

He also called out the Biden administration for its “shameful hesitation” in responding to Russian aggression. While not naming Trump directly, McConnell warned that refusing to recognize Russia as the aggressor would be disgraceful.

He further argued that any peace deal that doesn’t constrain Russian ambition would lead to more aggression and weaken American deterrence, leaving U.S. interests more vulnerable.
