Democrat Politician Struck Child With Vehicle, Fled Scene: Report

Will County Board member Jackie Traynere is facing backlash after allegedly hitting a child with her car in a Bolingbrook crosswalk and leaving the scene. The child, who was riding his bike, entered the crosswalk with a walk signal when Traynere reportedly made an illegal turn and struck him.

She later told police she wasn’t sure if she hit him and admitted she left the scene confused about what to do. Police noted damage on her car consistent with the collision. The child was treated at the scene and not hospitalized.

Traynere received only a citation for failing to yield. Her attorney claims the incident is being exaggerated for political reasons and says she plans to contest the charge in court.
