The Department of Justice has charged Cooper Frederick with firebombing a Tesla dealership in Loveland, Colorado. He was arrested in Texas, and prosecutors are seeking a 20-year sentence.
Attorney General Pam Bondi labeled the attack as domestic terrorism and warned that future offenders will face severe consequences. The DOJ has already charged several individuals in a growing wave of anti-Tesla violence, which includes vandalism, arson, and threats.
Authorities believe the attacks are politically motivated, tied to Elon Musk’s association with the Trump administration. The FBI has launched a task force to investigate these incidents.
Tesla’s stock has dropped significantly amid the unrest. Bondi also criticized Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett for rhetoric she claims incited violence.
Musk and officials emphasized that Tesla has done nothing to justify these attacks and promised justice for all responsible.
