Ocasio-Cortez Sends Panicked Letter To DOJ After Homan Threat

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is seeking answers from the Department of Justice following reports that she may be under investigation for allegedly helping illegal immigrants avoid ICE enforcement.

Former acting ICE Director Tom Homan said he referred her to the DOJ after she hosted a “Know Your Rights” webinar informing undocumented immigrants of their legal protections.

Ocasio-Cortez sent a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi demanding clarity, arguing her actions fall under free speech and the responsibility of elected officials. She claims Homan’s efforts are politically motivated and threaten First Amendment rights.

The webinar featured legal experts and was conducted in English and Spanish. Homan, speaking to Fox News, accused her of aiding lawbreakers and making immigration enforcement harder.

Ocasio-Cortez asked the DOJ to respond by March 5, 2025, confirming whether she or her office is under investigation. As of now, the DOJ has not publicly commented on the referral.
