Attorney General Pam Bondi issued a warning to Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, after Crockett made inflammatory remarks about Elon Musk and Sen. Ted Cruz.
Bondi accused Crockett of promoting violence, linking her comments to the discovery of explosive devices in Austin and attacks on Tesla dealerships.
Bondi demanded an apology, saying Crockett’s rhetoric endangered lives and violated public trust. Crockett had previously said she wanted Musk “taken down” on her birthday and called for aggressive action against Cruz.
Critics, including Bondi and the White House’s rapid response team, accused her of inciting violence. Though Crockett insists her language was nonviolent and metaphorical, Bondi warned her that “words have consequences” and said Crockett is calling for “further insurrection.”
The FBI is currently investigating attacks on Tesla facilities as potential terrorism.
