Federal judges are pushing back against former President Donald Trump’s second-term agenda, with some issuing sharp rebukes. One compared his treatment of deported immigrants to how Nazis were treated, while others have accused him of acting like a dictator or harboring animus toward transgender people.
Trump has retaliated by calling for impeachments, filing ethics complaints, and criticizing judges as biased. Legal expert Josh Blackman noted this creates a destructive cycle, where Trump’s rhetoric prompts strong judicial reactions.
Judge Ana Reyes questioned if Jesus would support Trump’s transgender policies, leading to a DOJ misconduct complaint. Other judges, like Patricia Millett and Beryl Howell, have made similarly strong statements. Ilya Shapiro noted some judges see themselves as a “judicial resistance.”
Judges report growing hostility, which they blame on Trump’s attacks on the judiciary. Trump recently labeled Chief Judge James Boasberg a “Radical Left Lunatic,” intensifying tensions between the branches.
