White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt defended President Trump’s push for major federal spending cuts, developed with help from Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Leavitt highlighted past support for similar efforts by Democrats like Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden, pointing out that only Clinton achieved a balanced budget.
She shared clips of Democrats calling for spending cuts, while others on X posted Clinton-era footage of federal workforce reductions and streamlined programs.
Rep. Daniel Webster (R-Fla.) criticized current Democratic opposition to DOGE, noting it evolved from Obama’s U.S. Digital Service. He argued Democrats praised the USDS when it served their agenda but now resist Trump’s version with Musk at the helm.
With the deficit at $1.83 trillion and debt interest hitting $880 billion, Webster stressed the need to modernize and reduce waste, calling DOGE a bold move to fix Washington’s spending problem.
