A renowned journalist, Glenn Greenwald, argues that newly released JFK assassination files confirm the existence of the “deep state,” refuting claims it’s merely a conspiracy theory.
Greenwald pointed to a 1961 warning by President Kennedy’s adviser, Arthur Schlesinger, about CIA operations. In a memo, Schlesinger described the CIA as a “state within a state” and cautioned about the agency’s potential to create foreign policy problems and friction with allied nations.
Greenwald highlighted this memo as evidence supporting the “deep state” concept, which has been promoted by figures like President Donald Trump. While skeptics dismiss it as a fringe theory, the release of over 63,000 pages of records related to JFK’s assassination reignites speculation, with some theorists claiming the CIA was involved in the president’s death.
Trump announced the release of the files in 2025.
