A new Data for Progress poll shows her leading Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer by 19 points in a hypothetical 2028 Democratic primary. The poll found Ocasio-Cortez popular among nearly every demographic, especially voters under 45, while Schumer’s approval has declined due to his perceived alignment with corporate interests and MAGA Republicans.
Despite his seniority, many voters see Schumer as out of touch. Ocasio-Cortez’s favorability surged after voters learned about her background and positions.
Political analysts suggest that if she runs, Schumer may be forced to step aside, as attacks on her could backfire. The poll signals a generational and ideological shift within the Democratic Party.
