Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced charges of attempted murder and terrorism against Ryan Routh for allegedly trying to assassinate Donald Trump on September 15, 2024, at Trump International Golf Club.
Uthmeier accused the Biden administration of obstructing the investigation, claiming former President Biden and Attorney General Garland hindered progress. Routh was reportedly found armed and hiding in a bush before being spotted by the Secret Service.
Following the attempt, Governor DeSantis authorized an investigation. Uthmeier praised current federal cooperation, crediting officials like AG Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel.
He called the incident a political attack on American values, vowing that Florida prosecutors will pursue justice. “Thank God Trump survived,” he said. “We will hold this evil man accountable and protect our state’s safety and freedom.”
