White House Replaces Obama Portrait with Dramatic Trump Painting
On April 11, the White House swapped Barack Obama’s portrait for a striking painting of Donald Trump, stirring headlines. Obama’s 2022 portrait was moved to make space near the State Floor stairs—traditionally reserved for recent presidents.
The new artwork, shared on X by the White House, shows Trump with a bandaged ear, fist raised, shouting “fight, fight, fight!”—capturing the moment after he survived a July assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Trump, both a former and potential future president, is currently the only recent commander-in-chief with a prominent display. George W. Bush’s portrait was also relocated nearby.
The Butler shooting involved a 20-year-old gunman; Trump was wounded, one rallygoer killed, and the attacker fatally shot by Secret Service. A separate armed security breach occurred weeks later at Mar-a-Lago. Reflecting on these events, Trump said, “I was saved by God to make America great again.”
