At a White House press briefing, Patty Morin, mother of murdered Maryland woman Rachel Morin, criticized Senator Chris Van Hollen for prioritizing an MS-13 member’s return over acknowledging her daughter’s brutal death.
Rachel was killed in 2023 by Victor Martinez-Hernandez, an illegal immigrant from El Salvador. Morin condemned Van Hollen for using taxpayer money to travel to El Salvador to advocate for Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a deported MS-13 member.
Van Hollen claimed Abrego was wrongfully deported, despite DOJ documents and a deportation order identifying him as part of MS-13.
Morin urged the government to protect U.S. citizens, highlighting the violent crime that took her daughter’s life. She said her daughter’s death shows the need for strict immigration enforcement, asking, “Why are we not protecting our children?”
Her remarks left the press corps in silence.
