Oscar-winning actor and Democrat George Clooney has endorsed Maryland Gov. Wes Moore as a potential future leader of the Democratic Party. In a CNN interview, Clooney praised Moore’s military service, leadership during the Baltimore tragedy, and past work with the Robin Hood Foundation.
While also mentioning Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, Clooney said Moore “is levitating above the rest.” He urged Democrats to unite behind a strong candidate soon, citing poor polling and Republican momentum.
Clooney played a key role in pushing President Biden to exit the 2024 race, penning a New York Times op-ed titled “I Love Joe Biden. But We Need a New Nominee.” Sources say Clooney felt used by former President Obama in the process and vowed not to be a political “water boy” again.
