Just over two weeks after Donald Trump’s return to the White House, Rep. Al Green, a Texas Democrat, launched a new impeachment effort.
On the House floor, Green cited Trump’s controversial plan to have the U.S. take over the Gaza Strip and resettle nearly 2 million Palestinians as a reason, calling it “ethnic cleansing.” He announced plans to introduce Articles of Impeachment against Trump for “dastardly deeds.”
Green had previously led three impeachment efforts during Trump’s first term, which Republicans dismissed as partisan. Trump was impeached twice during that time — first in 2019 over a call with Ukraine’s president and again in 2021 for inciting the January 6 Capitol riot.
Trump claims his Gaza plan aims to end the Israel-Hamas conflict and transform the area into a peaceful, thriving region.
