Donald Trump criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, claiming he wasn’t interested in peace after Zelensky said peace with Russia was “very, very far away.”
Trump expressed frustration, posting on Truth Social that Zelensky’s statement was unacceptable and that America wouldn’t tolerate it much longer. The attack followed a tense Oval Office meeting where Trump and Zelensky clashed over trust in Russian President Vladimir Putin. Trump also questioned Zelensky’s desire for peace, suggesting that he only sought continued U.S. support. Meanwhile, European leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, discussed increasing defense spending, acknowledging the importance of U.S. involvement in Ukraine’s defense. Trump argued that Europe couldn’t handle the situation without U.S. backing.
