President Donald Trump slammed Kilmar Abrego Garcia and his defenders Sunday, accusing Democrats and the media of falsely portraying the deported MS-13 suspect as “sweet and innocent.”
On Truth Social, Trump called the claims a “dangerous LIE” and demanded accountability for those spreading misinformation. He emphasized that Garcia was twice confirmed by courts as an MS-13 member and was in the U.S. illegally under a final deportation order.
Trump criticized liberals for “protecting criminals” rather than ensuring national safety. The media has focused on a 2019 court ruling that paused Garcia’s deportation due to gang violence concerns in El Salvador.
However, Stephen Miller countered that the Supreme Court recently ruled the administration only needs to “facilitate” return—not forcibly extradite. Miller insisted Garcia’s deportation was lawful, and claims otherwise came from a now-fired DOJ employee.
