In a surprising security breach, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem was robbed while dining at a Washington, D.C. restaurant. Despite Secret Service protection, her purse was stolen Sunday night by a masked man.
The thief escaped with $3,000 in cash, her passport, driver’s license, DHS badge, medication, makeup bag, blank checks, and apartment keys.
According to CNN, security footage showed a white male wearing a medical mask taking her bag and leaving the restaurant. The Secret Service is investigating the incident.
The theft occurred just days after Noem announced that two individuals responsible for leaking information about ICE raids had been identified. She stated on X that they endangered law enforcement and would be prosecuted.
The incident raises new concerns about security and internal threats within the Department of Homeland Security.
