Attorney General Pam Bondi has ended Biden-era DOJ lawsuits against police and fire departments over merit-based hiring practices. The suits, filed by the DOJ’s Civil Rights Office, accused agencies of discrimination due to statistical disparities, not intentional bias.
The Biden administration had pushed departments to adopt DEI-based hiring and pay millions to applicants who scored lower on standardized tests.
Bondi, following Trump’s rollback of DEI initiatives, called the lawsuits a threat to public safety, saying hiring should be based on skill—not quotas.
Separately, Bondi announced federal charges against Jamison Wagner for arson at a Tesla dealership and the New Mexico GOP headquarters. The attacks are part of what Bondi calls a rise in domestic terrorism targeting Tesla and GOP sites. She vowed no plea deals, per Trump’s directive.
