Pope Francis Makes Final Appearance, Dies at 88
Pope Francis made his last public appearance on Easter Sunday (April 20), delivering a message of peace and calling for ceasefires in Gaza and Ukraine. He urged respect for freedom of religion and expression, and condemned the global “thirst for death.”
The next morning, April 21, the Vatican announced his death at age 88 following a respiratory illness. Nine days of mourning will follow, and a new pope will be chosen by the College of Cardinals after 15 days.
