Hegseth Blasts Media, ‘Disgruntled Former Employees’ Over Signal Controversy

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth pushed back against media reports and former staff amid controversy over alleged Signal app leaks. At the White House Easter Egg Roll, he denied discussing intelligence on Yemen in a private chat, claiming media smears and fired leakers were behind the reports

Hegseth affirmed his alignment with President Trump, who continues to support him. NPR reported Trump was seeking a replacement, but White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt called it “fake news.”

A past Signal leak involved Atlantic editor Jeffrey Goldberg being mistakenly added to a group chat. Democrats have urged Hegseth to resign, but Trump defended him, blaming National Security Advisor Mike Waltz for the leak.

Trump downplayed the breach, emphasizing the mission’s success and insisting there was no real damage.
