Texas Official in Critical Condition After Family Tragedy
Denton County Commissioner Bobbie Mitchell, 76, is in critical condition after being stabbed at her Lewisville home early Monday. Her husband, Fred Mitchell, died in the attack.
Their 23-year-old grandson, Mitchell Blake Reinacher, was arrested at the scene and faces murder and aggravated assault charges.
Police arrived around 4 a.m. to find both victims with stab wounds. Fred later died at the hospital. Bobbie, a trailblazing public servant and former mayor of Lewisville, is recovering in the ICU.
Community leaders, including Denton County Judge Andy Eads and Texas Rep. Jared Patterson, have asked for prayers and privacy. Mitchell, a respected figure in local politics, has two children and nine grandchildren. The motive remains under investigation.
