Reports indicate that the White House is close to unveiling a new seating arrangement for the briefing room, potentially altering the traditional spots for major outlets and adding more MAGA-friendly allies.
Axios noted that the administration plans to manage the seating chart, a role traditionally handled by the White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA).
An unnamed senior official said the Trump administration aims to restructure the briefing room based on current media consumption metrics. While legacy outlets will still be included, some may have reduced visibility. This move has sparked backlash from journalists, with WHCA president Eugene Daniels arguing that it undermines the independence of the press.
Additionally, new conservative media outlets have created a distinct “conservative corner” in the briefing room.
