Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran national recently deported from the U.S., has become a controversial figure.
According to a report from Just The News, Garcia was previously stopped in Tennessee while driving a vehicle registered to Jose Ramon Hernandez Reyes, a confessed human trafficker. DHS records label Garcia a “suspect alien” possibly linked to human trafficking.
He claimed to be transporting workers from Texas to Maryland, but authorities found no luggage or signs supporting his story. The vehicle had been flagged by Homeland Security for suspected smuggling activity.
Reyes, also undocumented, pleaded guilty in 2020 to smuggling migrants and served prison time. Despite concerns, Garcia remained in the U.S. until his recent deportation.
Critics argue Democrats have portrayed him as a victim, despite his links to criminal activity.
