Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyy met ahead of Pope Francis’ funeral in Vatican City, reportedly putting past tensions aside to reach a mutual agreement.
It marked their first meeting since a heated exchange at the White House earlier this year.
A source told Sky News the leaders had a “very productive discussion” before attending the service, which drew leaders like Emmanuel Macron and Keir Starmer. Trump, who recently claimed a peace deal between Ukraine and Russia was close, reiterated his call for Zelenskyy to “get it done.”
Despite backlash over his attire—a blue suit instead of black—Trump focused on using the funeral as a diplomatic opportunity. On social media, he condemned a deadly Russian drone strike in Kyiv, calling for peace and signaling further talks with Zelenskyy in the near future.
