Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt Reacts to Former President Joe Biden’s First Public Address Since Leaving the White House

Former President Joe Biden spoke on April 15, 2025, at a disability conference in Chicago, addressing concerns over Social Security.

He criticized the Trump administration for past efforts to cut the program and stressed the importance of protecting benefits for retirees and people with disabilities.

However, the spotlight shifted to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, who mocked Biden’s age, saying, “I’m shocked he’s speaking at night. I thought his bedtime was much earlier.” Her remark sparked backlash online, with many calling it disrespectful.

Biden’s speech also highlighted staff cuts at the Social Security Administration, new ID requirements, and data-sharing with adviser Elon Musk, who once called Social Security a “Ponzi scheme.” Attorney Jason Turkish noted growing concern among disabled clients, despite some recent policy rollbacks after public pressure.
