Suspect In Noem Purse-Snatching Case Is An Illegal Immigrant: Report

A suspect accused of stealing DHS Secretary Kristi Noem’s Gucci purse has been arrested and is reportedly in the U.S. illegally, according to officials.

The theft occurred on April 20 at The Capital Burger in Washington, D.C., during an Easter outing with Noem’s family.

Her bag contained $3,000 in cash, a passport, driver’s license, DHS badge, and apartment keys. Authorities believe the suspect, part of a larger East Coast theft ring, worked with an accomplice who is still at large and also allegedly undocumented.

Surveillance footage captured the theft, and the suspect is expected in court soon. Though the U.S. attorney says Noem was not specifically targeted, the theft’s precision suggests it was professionally executed.

ICE is now involved, and officials say the suspects won’t be allowed back into the U.S.
