By a wide margin, Americans approved of President Donald Trump’s speech before a joint session of Congress on Tuesday night.
Lasting over 100 minutes, it became the longest presidential address in modern history, covering themes like ending foreign wars quickly and defending new tariffs. Delivered in Trump’s signature bold style, the speech struck a chord with viewers, with 76% approval, according to a CBS News poll.
Trump’s stance on ending the Russia-Ukraine conflict resonated with many, as nearly 75% of Americans support a peace deal, even if it means Ukraine ceding territory. Additionally, a Harvard poll found that 57% of respondents agreed with Trump’s tariff policies. Trump also contrasted his early actions with those of former President Biden, calling him “the worst president in American history.”
