Michelle Obama sets the record straight on divorce rumors

Michelle Obama recently addressed ongoing divorce rumors, emphasizing the societal pressures women—especially public figures—face.

On Sophia Bush’s Work in Progress podcast, she shared the freedom she feels as an “empty nester,” now making decisions solely for herself.

Reflecting on her past, Michelle noted how often she prioritized her family and Barack’s career over her own needs. She also pointed out that her absence from events like Jimmy Carter’s funeral fueled speculation.

She dismissed tabloid claims linking Barack to Jennifer Aniston—rumors Aniston also denied—highlighting how women’s independence is often wrongly tied to marital trouble. Michelle urged that women shouldn’t have to justify personal choices.
