Greenland has firmly rejected Donald Trump’s repeated interest in acquiring the territory, following his recent speech to Congress where he again expressed a desire to bring Greenland into U.S. control.
Trump emphasized the national security importance of Greenland, stating, “We will make you rich, and together, we will take Greenland to heights like you have never thought possible.” However, Greenland’s Prime Minister Mute Egede delivered a blunt response: “We do not wish to be Americans. Greenland is ours.” He reiterated that Greenland’s future is determined by its people and not for sale.
Trump’s persistent pursuit of Greenland is not new, having previously engaged in talks with Denmark’s Prime Minister on the matter, despite Denmark’s firm stance.
