Marking his 100th day back in office on April 29, President Donald Trump defended his policies in an interview with ABC News.
Responding to criticism over rising costs tied to his renewed trade war with China, Trump stated, “Well, they did sign up for it, actually,” referring to voters.
He insisted his economic policies were central to his campaign and aimed at correcting unfair global trade practices. Trump cited falling gas and egg prices as signs of progress and assured Americans the country was “heading in the right direction.”
However, public opinion remains divided. A joint ABC News/Washington Post/Ipsos poll found Trump has the lowest 100-day approval rating of any U.S. president in 80 years, with 55% disapproving of his performance.
Another poll by The New York Times and Siena College found 66% described his second term so far as “chaotic.”
