Trump, Republicans Dismantling Wave Of Biden-Era Regulations

In their first 100 days with a bicameral majority, Republicans have repealed seven Biden-era regulations, mainly targeting energy rules they argue raise costs and hinder production.

President Trump has signed three of these rollbacks into law, including the repeal of a methane emission fee and a requirement for archaeological reports before offshore drilling.

Republicans used the Congressional Review Act (CRA) for expedited action before a key deadline next month. Additional CRA measures target appliance efficiency standards and financial regulations.

Trump also repealed an IRS rule on decentralized finance (DeFi) exchanges, benefiting the crypto industry. Industry leaders had argued the rule was unworkable due to the anonymous nature of DeFi platforms.

Four more CRA resolutions await his signature, with more expected soon. House Speaker Mike Johnson says these moves support Trump’s goal of reversing Biden’s “war on American energy,” and Republicans aim to repeal the broader laws enabling the regulations.
