Sends Panicked Letter

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has asked the Department of Justice to clarify whether she’s under investigation following a “Know Your Rights” webinar she hosted on immigration law.

The event, held in English and Spanish with legal experts, aimed to inform the public about their constitutional protections during ICE encounters. After criticism from a former immigration official, who referred the matter to the DOJ, Ocasio-Cortez defended the outreach as a core duty of elected officials. The case has reignited debate over the line between public education and law enforcement interference.
