White House Press Secretary Defends Proposals to Reduce Federal Spending

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt reaffirmed support for the administration’s federal spending reduction plan,

calling it a responsible, historically grounded move toward fiscal health. Speaking at a press briefing, she said the goal is to eliminate inefficiencies—not cut essential services.

“This is about making government work better, not smaller,” Leavitt said, emphasizing accountability and sustainability. She cited past bipartisan efforts to streamline government during economic strain and said the current plan builds on those lessons to restore public trust and strengthen the economy.
