Small Plane Crash in Simi Valley Kills Two, Damages Homes
On May 3, 2025, a Vans RV-10 small plane crashed into a residential area in Simi Valley, California, killing the pilot, a passenger, and a dog. The aircraft had departed Lancaster en route to Camarillo when it crashed into the backyard and dining room of a home in the Wood Ranch neighborhood.
Homeowners Arman and Armineh Hovakemian escaped unharmed just moments before the impact. Another house was also damaged, and two dogs are missing. Witnesses saw the plane flying erratically and circling low before the crash.
The FAA and NTSB are investigating, with findings expected to take over a year. The crash follows a recent fatal small-plane incident in Minnesota, adding to concerns about aviation safety.
