“Woke” Pope Leo XIV slammed by MAGA supporters

Pope Leo XIV: First American Pope, White Sox Fan, and Target of MAGA Backlash

Robert Francis Prevost, a Chicago native, was elected as Pope Leo XIV — the first American pope in history. Known for his deep roots in Chicago’s South Side and years of service in Peru, Leo is praised for his humility, humor, and progressive views.

While President Trump congratulated him, MAGA supporters lashed out online, calling him a “woke globalist” due to his pro-immigrant stance and past criticism of Trump. Despite the controversy, Pope Leo XIV’s papacy begins with a message of peace and global unity.
