During a May 9 town hall, New York Attorney General Letitia James was heckled by a man who accused her of mortgage fraud and demanded she apologize to Donald Trump.
The incident followed news that James is under federal investigation for allegedly misrepresenting a Virginia property as her primary residence, despite being required to live in New York. Additional discrepancies reportedly include listing her father as her husband to secure better loan terms and underreporting units in a Brooklyn property.
James has called the probe a political attack and part of Trump’s “revenge tour.” Critics are also questioning a $10 million budget amendment that could fund her legal defense.
The FBI and U.S. attorney’s office have launched a formal investigation, though no charges have been filed. James maintains the allegations are baseless.
