Justice Sotomayor Urges Lawyers To ‘Stand Up’ Against Trump Admin

Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor recently urged lawyers to “stand up” against the Trump administration during a speech at an American Bar Association event.

Sotomayor emphasized the importance of defending justice, especially in challenging times.

She told the audience that if they aren’t prepared to fight difficult battles, they shouldn’t be lawyers, highlighting the profession’s role in advocating for those who cannot defend themselves. Her comments were met with applause from the audience.

Sotomayor’s remarks reflect the broader concerns of liberal justices regarding criticisms of the judiciary by President Trump and his administration, sparking potential controversy, particularly from conservative circles.
