Sen. Joni Ernst defended Elon Musk after Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called him unqualified to tackle government waste,
labeling him a “billionaire con man.” In a Fox News interview, Ernst pushed back, saying Musk brings valuable technical skills to his role overseeing the Department of Government Efficiency under Trump.
She praised his efforts to work with federal agencies to cut fraud and waste, arguing that talent comes in many forms. Ernst also noted Musk’s track record with SpaceX, saying his achievements speak for themselves.
Musk, during Trump’s first Cabinet meeting this week, said cutting waste is critical to preventing national bankruptcy. Trump voiced strong support for Musk, joking that anyone unhappy with him should leave the room.
