Trump Baffles with Claims About Pope and Inventing a Word
Donald Trump sparked confusion after making two bizarre claims within 24 hours.
First, he implied he played a role in the election of Pope Leo XIV, the first American pope, citing his popularity with Catholic voters. In a Truth Social post, Trump congratulated the new pope and suggested his own electoral success helped make it happen.
Then, during a press event about drug pricing, Trump claimed he invented the word “equalize.” He said, “It’s a new word that I came up with,” despite the term dating back to the 1500s.
Social media users quickly mocked the statement, pointing out the word has long existed—even referencing the 1980s show The Equalizer.
