Democrat Offers Legislation To Codify Trump’s Prescription Drug Price Order Into Law

On May 14, 2025, Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) introduced legislation to codify former President Donald Trump’s executive order aimed at reducing prescription drug prices.

Trump’s order, announced on Truth Social, seeks to lower drug costs by requiring U.S. prices to match those in other developed nations—potentially cutting prices by 30% to 80%.

Khanna supported the measure, calling it a step toward fairness for American consumers. He emphasized the need for bipartisan cooperation to combat pharmaceutical price gouging and warned that the executive order could face legal challenges unless codified into law.

Khanna urged Republicans to support his bill.
