Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett faced backlash from MAGA supporters after her tough questioning during oral arguments on a case regarding birthright citizenship.
The case involves President Trump’s executive order aiming to end automatic citizenship for children born in the U.S. to non-citizen parents.
Barrett, appointed by Trump in 2020, questioned whether the administration respected circuit court precedents. Her pointed tone drew criticism from Trump loyalists online, with some calling her a “huge mistake” and the “worst SCOTUS pick ever.”
Despite expectations she’d vote consistently conservative, Barrett has sometimes taken a more centrist stance. Trump commented generally on the Supreme Court but did not mention Barrett directly.
