Kash Patel Announces FBI Ditching DC Headquarters, Transferring 1,500 Agents

FBI Director Kash Patel announced the agency will relocate 1,500 employees from its longtime Washington, D.C., headquarters at the J. Edgar Hoover Building, citing unsafe conditions.

The move aims to decentralize operations, with staff being reassigned across the country. Patel did not disclose the new headquarters location or relocation timeline but emphasized a push to inspire recruitment and improve safety.Meanwhile, Patel responded to controversy over a now-deleted tweet from former FBI Director James Comey that appeared to reference “86 47,” interpreted by some as a threat toward Donald Trump. The FBI and Secret Service are reportedly investigating. President Trump and other officials condemned the post, calling for accountability.
