A federal judge struck down key parts of Biden-era Equal Employment Opportunity Commission guidance that extended Title VII protections to cover sexual orientation and gender identity.
Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk ruled that interpreting “sex” to include these categories was unlawful.
The lawsuit was filed by the Heritage Foundation, which argued the guidance forced businesses to adopt “radical gender ideology.” Critics claimed it compelled companies to allow biological men in women-only spaces and required staff to use preferred pronouns.
The decision was praised by conservative leaders and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton as a victory for common sense. The EEOC currently lacks the quorum needed to formally revoke the guidance.
