Side effects of excessive masturbation as expert reveals how much is too much

Excessive masturbation can lead to both physical and psychological side effects, according to Dr. Surya Bhagwati.

While masturbation in moderation is healthy—helping reduce stress and improve sleep—overdoing it may cause fatigue, lack of focus, decreased sexual sensitivity, and even temporary genital swelling.

Emotionally, it can result in guilt, low self-esteem, social awkwardness, and interference with daily responsibilities or relationships. Dr. Bhagwati emphasized setting personal boundaries and seeking help if habits begin affecting one’s quality of life.

She also debunked myths linking masturbation to hair loss, penis shrinkage, or prostate cancer, stating that moderation and awareness are essential for sexual well-being.
