Bongino Says Comey Has ‘Brought Shame’ To FBI Over Trump ‘Threat’

FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino harshly criticized former Director James Comey over his “86 47” Instagram post, calling it another stain on the bureau’s reputation.

Bongino said Comey’s actions reflect failed leadership that current leadership is working to correct.

The post, widely interpreted as a call to remove the 47th president, was later deleted by Comey, who claimed it was misunderstood. Trump and others saw it as incitement.

Bongino reaffirmed the FBI’s role in supporting investigations of threats to public officials and emphasized ongoing reforms. The Secret Service interviewed Comey, and Director Patel hinted that major accountability steps may be announced within weeks.
