House Speaker Mike Johnson warned that some Senate Republicans might derail President Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” by removing key provisions important to Trump’s agenda.
On CBS News’ Face the Nation, Johnson defended a controversial measure limiting activist judges from issuing nationwide injunctions without a bond, claiming it helps restore balance among government branches.
He also pushed back on claims that the bill cuts Medicaid or SNAP, arguing it targets fraud, waste, and abuse. Johnson cited able-bodied individuals exploiting the system and emphasized work requirements as fair and beneficial.
He insisted reforms will strengthen welfare programs and maintain resources for those who truly need them.
