Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell is under federal investigation by the Department of Homeland Security and the House Judiciary Committee for allegedly aiding illegal immigrants and interfering with an ICE operation.
Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) claimed O’Connell supported individuals with criminal backgrounds and misused federal funds. The probe follows a major ICE–Tennessee police raid arresting over 200 people, many tied to gangs.
O’Connell condemned the raids and ordered city staff to disclose communications with ICE, which Ogles called obstruction. DHS accused the mayor of supporting “pro-illegal policies.”
Former ICE director Tom Homan warned other mayors, saying it’s a felony to harbor or obstruct immigration enforcement.
