In a tense incident caught on video, DHS officers handcuffed a staffer in Rep. Jerry Nadler’s Manhattan office, located in the same building as an immigration court.
Officers accused the staff of “harboring rioters” and tried to enter a private office without a warrant.
DHS claimed the staffer blocked a security check following protest reports. She was later released without charges. Nadler’s team confirmed no arrest occurred.
The episode comes amid growing tension between Democrats and federal immigration authorities, especially after increased arrests near courthouses. Advocates involved said they were invited into the office after allegedly being threatened by ICE officers.
