Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer harshly criticized the Republican-backed “One Big Beautiful Bill,” calling it the “We Are All Going to Die Act.” He claimed the bill would strip healthcare from 14 million Americans, cut food aid for 11 million, and benefit billionaires.
Critics mocked Schumer’s rhetoric as exaggerated, comparing it to past Democratic warnings on GOP policies. Many pointed out that similar dire predictions had been made in the past with little consequence.
Meanwhile, CNN polling showed Republicans gaining ground on economic trust. Despite months of media pushback on Trump’s tariff policies, Republicans held a growing lead on who voters believe has the better economic plan, with a 12-point advantage by May 2025.
