Former President Donald Trump issued a stern warning to Iran via Truth Social, urging the regime to return to the negotiating table or face “the full weight” of continued Israeli strikes. His comments come amid heightened tensions and devastating attacks that reportedly killed top Iranian military officials. “There has already been great death and destruction,” Trump wrote. “Iran must make a deal before there is nothing left.” He emphasized Israel’s military strength, stating that the nation has access to the most advanced U.S. weaponry and “knows how to use it.” Trump revealed that hardline Iranian leaders killed in the recent strikes were unaware of what was coming. Among the dead are Hossein Salami, commander-in-chief of the IRGC; Mohammad Hossein Bagheri, chief of staff of the Iranian Armed Forces; and Gholam-Ali Rashid, commander of Iran’s emergency command. They were meeting in an underground bunker at the time of the Israeli airstrike.

Israel’s military operation targeted over 100 sites, with 200 fighter jets delivering 330 munitions. The Israeli Defense Forces also struck Iran’s Natanz nuclear facility. While U.S. officials maintain that they had no role in the Israeli strikes, Secretary of State Marco Rubio warned Iran not to retaliate against American assets. The U.S. previously evacuated non-essential embassy staff in Iraq. As Iran and the U.S. prepare for nuclear talks in Oman, the future of negotiations remains uncertain. Trump reiterated that Iran must not be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon and said further escalation could derail diplomacy.
